Where to Drop Off a Vinted Royal Mail Parcel
When a buyer picks Royal Mail on Vinted, you get a QR code rather than a printed label. The code has to be scanned somewhere that can print the real label, so where you drop the parcel off matters. Here are your options.
The four places you can use
Vinted’s help centre lists four kinds of Royal Mail drop-off point for sellers:
- Post Office branches. Staff scan your code, print the label and take the parcel.
- Royal Mail shops. Local shops that handle Royal Mail parcels. Vinted lists these as Collect+ parcel shops. Like a Post Office, the code is scanned and the label printed there.
- Royal Mail parcel lockers. Self-service and usually open 24/7. You scan the code at the locker, it prints the label, and you put the parcel in a compartment. See using a Royal Mail parcel locker for Vinted.
- Customer service points. These include Royal Mail delivery offices, where you can drop off prepaid parcels at the counter.
Royal Mail describes it as scanning the code, printing your label and dropping off, all in the same place.
Where not to go
A postbox. Vinted is clear that you should not post a Royal Mail QR code parcel in a postbox. Royal Mail cannot register it, so there is no tracking, the parcel will not be delivered and no compensation is paid. That includes parcel postboxes. More on that in can you post a Vinted parcel in a postbox.
Another courier’s shop. An Evri ParcelShop or InPost locker cannot take a Royal Mail parcel. If your order says Royal Mail, use a Royal Mail drop-off.
How to find your nearest one
- Check the order. When the label is ready, Vinted sends the code to your app and email along with instructions on where to drop it off.
- Use Royal Mail’s location finder. Royal Mail’s website has a “Find Royal Mail Locations” tool that shows nearby Post Offices, shops, lockers and customer service points.
Opening hours vary. Lockers are the most flexible, though Royal Mail notes that ones inside other buildings can have restricted hours.
What to bring
- The parcel, packed and sealed. Leave a clear flat side for the label. See how to pack and label a Vinted Royal Mail parcel.
- The QR code, on your phone or printed. A printed code is a handy backup if your battery is low, as long as it is large and sharp. Crop My Label puts the code on a clean 4×6 so it scans first time.
- A way to keep proof. Take the receipt or email confirmation you are offered and keep it until the order is complete.
Which should you choose?
If you want someone to check it for you, use a Post Office or Royal Mail shop. If you want to avoid queues or post outside opening hours, a parcel locker is quickest, as long as your parcel fits the compartment. Any of the four works the same for tracking.
