Vinted Royal Mail Parcel Size and Weight Limits Explained

Before you take a Vinted parcel to the drop-off point, it is worth knowing what Royal Mail will accept. Send something too big or too heavy and the carrier may charge extra, or refuse it altogether. Here is what Vinted’s help centre says, checked in November 2026.

The limits

Vinted’s parcel size page lists one Royal Mail option, the 2nd Class Medium Parcel:

  • Maximum size: 61 × 46 × 46 cm
  • Weight, standard items: up to 2 kg. Vinted gives clothing, shoes, books and toys as examples.
  • Weight, heavy items: up to 20 kg. Vinted gives games consoles, kids’ furniture, scooters and rugs as examples.

Limits can change, so check the Royal Mail section of Vinted’s help centre if you are close to the edge.

Measure the packed parcel

The limits apply to the parcel, not the item. Padding, a box and a bulky bag all add centimetres. Measure and weigh it once it is packed. Our guide to packing a Vinted Royal Mail parcel covers what to use.

Who picks the size?

Vinted describes it two ways. Parcel size is suggested automatically from details like the category, item size and brand. On individual items you can select the size yourself, and bundles are sized automatically.

What happens if the size is wrong

If a parcel goes over the limits, Royal Mail may ask you to pay extra, or refuse it. What happens next depends on who chose the size:

  • Vinted chose it and Royal Mail charged extra. Vinted says it may be able to compensate you. You can request a review using the button at the end of its parcel size page.
  • You chose it. Vinted usually cannot compensate you for extra Royal Mail fees.
  • You paid the extra at the counter. The charge goes directly to the carrier, so Vinted cannot refund it on individual items. You can try to agree something with the buyer.

If you spot the mistake before posting

Before you send, you can agree with the buyer to cancel the order, then re-upload the item with the right size. Or you can ask the buyer to choose a different carrier. After the label is issued you cannot change the carrier or the drop-off location, and sending with a different one cancels the order and refunds the buyer. More on that in how to send a Vinted parcel with Royal Mail.

At the drop-off point

  • Bundles: you can change the size at the drop-off point at no extra cost. If you were overcharged, contact Vinted with your receipt.
  • Parcel shop: staff can change the size on the carrier’s side when you hand the parcel over.
  • Locker: follow the on-screen instructions to pick another locker size, and keep the door open until you are prompted to close it.

Royal Mail parcel lockers have two compartment types, so a parcel that is within the Vinted limit may still not fit a particular locker. See using a Royal Mail parcel locker for the sizes.
